Installing Microsoft DLLs for
32-bit LevTech Utilities

Certain LevTech utilities which now work in a 32-bit mode under Windows 9X, NT, and 2000 require that the Microsoft system DLLs (dynamic link libraries) be up to a version level that is compatible with the LevTech utility. These utilities are: H/Check, HTML/Prep, Mapper, and SumDex.

If you have Microsoft Access (database program) on your system, the chances are good that the utilities will function properly. Also, if you are using Windows 2000 or Office 2000, there will likely be no need to proceed.

Before proceeding you can try to run the utility. If you get a Windows error message (usually "Program has performed an illegal operation") then you should continue as outlined below.

Follow the steps outlined below to avoid system error messages:

  1. Click here and then pick the “save to disk” option to begin a download of the self-extracting zip file msdlls.exe (you may want to download this file to your c:\temp directory).

  2. Use Start/Run to execute the msdlls.exe file which will unzip the files into your c:\temp directory.

  3. Use Start/Run again to execute the setup.exe file in the c:\temp directory. This will prompt you for some answers similar to other installations.  (NOTE: you will be asked for a serial number, use 643557.)

  4. If the installation is completed successfully, you can delete the files in the temp directory using Windows Explorer.

Please read the “license/warranty” text during the installation!!
